Ensuring the accuracy of energy meters.

Yesterday, Broadspectrum and the Ghana Standards Authority (GSA) hosted a high-level delegation led by the Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Hon. John Abdulai Jinapor, at the Metrology Laboratory.

The visit aimed to familiarize the Minister with the metrology operations, particularly the processes in place to ensure the accuracy of energy meters imported into Ghana. As mandated by law, the metrology lab plays a critical role in testing and verifying energy meters to guarantee fairness, transparency, and equity for both consumers and the state.

Prompted by recent public concerns regarding allegedly inaccurate electricity billing linked to meters used by the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), the engagement provided an opportunity for the delegation to gain firsthand insight into the rigorous testing and regulatory systems safeguarding Ghana’s electricity metering ecosystem.

The inspection of the modern infrastructure underscored a shared commitment to consumer protection, accountability, and strengthening public confidence in the nation’s energy sector.
